Slingshot, the international festival of music and electronic arts in the South, returns for its sixth edition in Durham, NC. Slingshot is still an internationally focused and artist-run EVENT, highlighting a range of dance, electronic, avant-pop, and experimental music from around the world.

Slingshot’s sixth edition in Durham on Oct 10-12 in Durham brings some of the globe's leaders in electronic music as well as some of its most inventive and boundary pushing to the Triangle’s #1 dance spot, The Fruit. 

Acclaimed Peruvian DJ and producer Sofia Kourtesis will perform for the first time in NC, as will Grammy nominated and British dancefloor tastemaker Special Request. Other first time NC performers include Marie Davidson from Canada who will bring her dark and danceable mixes, Mexican producer Paurro, and Miami producer Nick León who will be at Slingshot off the heels of his acclaimed new record A Tropical Entropy.

Slingshot’s lineup also reaches into the sonically and performatively adventurous, from “techno's most psychedelic producer” Rrose (who will also host a workshop), Uganda’s Authentically Plastic who weaves African influenced sonics into techno mixes, to the Mexico City based and gender bending performance artist MUXXXE, Slingshot’s reach even extends to Indonesia, as Kaibo  (director Kai Riedl’s project) and other musicians will rework/remix the music of Java via Javasounds and duo Bottlesmoker (coming all the way from Java) will be making music using plants and electrodes. 

Slingshot isn’t all dancefloor, and this year electronic and avant pop artists such as the acclaimed james K and the ambient and operatic R&B music of Niecy Blues, will join in, as well as the floaty melodics of ambient musician Lightbath and a variety of musicians who work with modular synthesis.

Finally, many of North Carolina’s most notable DJ’s and musicians such as GRRL and others will be intermixing with and welcoming  everyone.
